American Bittern. Well camoflauged in the marsh and can stand very still. Very lucky to spot it and get it's pic this day before it left.

This guy knows where to find trout, one of those places that doesn’t look like much and is so close to businesses/homes that it gets overlooked. I can’t recall ever seeing anybody fishing there.

I spotted this Merlin on my way home from work; he spotted me before I could find a clear shot through the bushes. I don’t get many chances at them though and it’s probably my best to date.

Welcome aboard KL. Tough shot on the Merlin through the brush like that but very well done. He's definately got a lock on you

I never used to know the names of a quarter of the birds I saw Tuk. Now being as photogenic as they are and knowing what most of them are I'm being accused of being a Bird Watcher!!

Photography is a great way to learn them too, once you get them on the computer and start checking the field marks you will know what to look for next time. Here are a few from the weekend, long shots so they are cropped a lot. Cape May Warbler Balck and White Warbler Palm Warbler

Well then one may post back a toe tappin smiley askin where the pics of the Pileated are..... I mean you had five minutes and all These guys popped up and scattered just as fast and I got pics. Could this be the same shorebird as above KL? Full 500mm from a moving vibrating boat doesn't always work so well Left the Eider in #1 for size comparison,we couldn't slow down or stop there because of the tide...small passage/huge current entering Westport hbr.
