Haven't been having much luck with the bears yet this year. I believe the warmer/better weather for the farmers and having the old corn plowed under much earlier is affecting progress/pics..for me and bears anyway. Clover and dandelions are coming right along though...this "may" help. Spotted this fella at about 3/4 of a mile just before dark. It spotted the black Jeep and must have thought it was a bigger bear in the same field. People say bears have poor eyesight...I say differant. Not from the same one above...

Had some "luck" lastnight... Pretty close to dark on the momma and cubs and reallly close to dark on the lone big one. High ISO and a bit noisy/fuzzy but....clickin' all the way ;D That grass in front of the dirt pile they were digging in was giving the auto focus alot of grief also. Busted... One huff from mom and away we go... Trust me,this guy is big for Nova Scotia. Love to see him this fall with more wieght on!

HeeHee Tuk...I MADE her do that. See pic of her in the ditch? I was kinda sneaking along that but it wasn't very deep, she saw me when she was in it and she went up into the old corn. After the face on pic I altered the settings a bit she stopped again looking back at the cubs who were paying NO ATTENTION to her. Took one pic, checked it on the preview, figured it was better...and ducked down in the ditch a bit. She stood to look wth I was doing,I reached up to the tripod and clicked away blindly...it worked. She stayed up for about 1min which really surprised me. I dunno maybe it wasn't a minute but it was definately 30+ pics...lol

Been messin mostly with my favourites since I got home. I saw the biggest bear I have ever seen in Nova Scotia the other evening about 10ft from in the Jeep and we were...eye to eye. Now I don't have any kinda lift kit or anything in the Jeep but I do have oversized tires on it and my eyelevel is 5ft sitting in it (I measured) This thing is definately a MONSTER,kinda been concentrating on that because...I didn't get any pics of it This guy however I've gotten a few of him but the problem is if he spots the black Jeep I think he thinks it's that bruiser and bolts...lol Those last 3 were the night I spotted the big guy right after takin those about 300yds away and definately not prepared Surprised me a bit actually, for as big as it is it's still lightning fast like the rest of them. Chris was with me when we spotted the smaller one and put it on the run in the grass. She was wailin away on a Coyote call but no way was that bear stopping or standing to have a look see in that grass. He knows theres a boss around somewhere and...it ain't him or the bigger bear in the previous post.

Spotted this one the other day....midday Start heading for it thinkin hmmm this field is right next to a 100 series hwy...great cover noise for me... ;D Then...this pulled over on the hwy right up close to the bear... Apparently just looking at the bear wasn't enough cause the passenger starts whistling at it,and that did nothing so he starts yellin at it til it leaves I headed back to the Jeep and needed to turn around so being as there is a service Rd right along there and me being ...me I drove right down past em turned and came back.... Buddy asks..."Was that a bear?" Me being me and all... the driver of the van found my reply to the passenger ...quite humourous.

Hmmm naw just "close enuff"...I think anyway ;D They were all right with it I think none took real exception. ONE tho didn't understand the rules...maybe Bea will link the videos here? I tell ya this week, well the last couple days i have logged over 2000kms on these bears. I just KNEW Chris would enjoy these soooo I came home collected her and took her back...more bear pics of course in my mind but we did lots of other "stuff" too Round two.... This one walked in and apparently didn't know I was hiding in the sun. Then it got an idea somethin was up and did a bit of side stepping to get downwind of me then bolted, stopped and turned and looked with the most indignant look on its face as if to say...what the heck? This one came in almost the exact same way,I'm thinkin it was paying a bit more attention cause it took off from here.. Small un-eventful faceoff, once the big brown coloured one got near the other brown up on the bank and distracted the smaller black made off into the woods. The closer one in foreground was just arriving... This little one wandered in while all the bigger ones were occupied. I believe it thought it had the place to itself until it realized there were other bears there. It took off at lightning speed I had the cam/tripod so getting a full out run ...eluded...me This one came in right behind the cub same trail in...might have been the "driving force" behind the cub. Now first thing the next morning...and I mean "first thing"...pretty sure Chris will elaborate on that Headed back,to my disappointment...no bears, until this guy showed up...alll alone, like he had the place to himself. Chris is 5'5 or 7" x 110-120lbs When I took her pic i was kinda positioned differant and zoomed out a bit so I did some cropping to make it as ratio correct as I could. Maybe he did have the place to himself...? I dunno but I'll admit that look right there...he drew a line i wasn't crossin'..it was early and he struck me as a bit cranky lookin' He's my new screensaver, replaced the leaping fox.

awesome pics kpr!!! errrrr.... by the looks of Chris' face I beleave you that it was first thing in the morning... she looks tired... ya ya... I know there is no good way to say this about a woman but she does look like she just woke up. And to answer Chris' first question.. yes I am single and yes its because I speak first and think next... more often than not to my detriment when it comes to women ;D

I know there is no good way to say this about a woman but she does look like she just woke up. Well I remember rolling over looking at the clock as my foot hit the floor cause I already saw the sun or light out in the kitchen and sayin..."it's time" knowing we were actually late...her reply..."yup" and five minutes later askin if she was ready. Her reply...What ...now? & lookin and sighing saying...You are serious! Yeah it was early...had a fair drive to get there. Gotta make hay right? Bea thats quite a choice of music with that one vid. I like it. Great vids too thanks for sharing them. I hope its not too long til it happens again.

She said " Wanna go to the beach today?" He said "I know a beach you've never been to" And that is how I ended up 5 hours from home. I was taking our dogs to the kennel and he was packing. He sends me a text telling me that he was all packed and it was in the driveway, waiting, in case i was dawdling. Do you know that when Kpr says he's all packed, he means HE is packed. Not a single thing for me. No bathing suit, no towel, no sweats, no shorts, no pj's, no pit stick. Nothing. Not a toothbrush, not a brush of any kind. Nothing. Nada. Zip. Ziltch. This was new information to me. Once we arrived at the destination. The entire backseat if filled to the rim with a kit bag full of clothes (his) camera gear, boots, extra socks the works... and I hit the gear bag to find a pair of sweats to put on and NOTHING!!!! About an hour from home he buys me... lifesavers. Now, I've never eaten lifesavers, but I figure it's a man thing and nod politely. Turns out that me having 3 fractures in my right leg is not enough of a handicap for him, he wants me smelling like peppermints for the bears too... Asks me to put them in my pockets... and feed the bears... So when he flew out of bed the next morning and asked if I was going with him I replied, yes. A few minutes later he was back and I realized he meant 'now" I endure 5 am until the 1 horse town woke up at 9am with no coffee. No shower. Nothing. LOL... Yes, Wolfsong... I was tired. And... for the record... Kpr's a sailor, it would take a whole lot more that that to offend me! Promise! Can someone explain to Kpr that going to the beach means actually laying claim to a bit of property, sitting back, maybe a few wobbly pops, some sunburn, some sand in cracks. We did make it to a beautiful beach that I hope, once "beach" is clarified we will return to sometime. It was an incredible trip with so many more memories. The best coffee I've had in who knows how long, a good deep sleep, bears, deer, birds, fishing!!!!! How could ya go wrong? Thanks for letting me hang with ya! It was fun!
