Great shots wolf!!!
Something I have noticed... Have you heard the Shovellers when they take off? Very distinctive sound to their wings.

oh... something I have been paying more attention to kpr after we discussed it the last time... smaller birds tend to deficate as well just before take-off but not as often as raptors or larger birds.. noticed it this weekend with yellow headed blackbirds... its just a lot harder to see and you need to be a lot closer... yup.. I just had to bring it up again

I thought this pair would be in Labrador nesting by now.

Well now that doesn't look like a Fundy boulder they are standing on... Your side of the province or mine KL?
Last few times I checked I got skunked, just figured they had left.

I think my 500mm has gone "soft" on me I have noticed lately best focus is if I center just beyond the subject like about 10ft and now every pic appears less than crisp. I thought it was just salt or dirt on the UV filter but...it's clean. First Eider-lings of 2010 Don't compare this pic. Was doing 28knots in the boat alongside it and standing taking it... Don't try this at home... More about that than IQ,need to work on the framing a bit too.

My side, I spotted them by chance when I took the #3 to avoid construction on the 103. I don’t recall them ever being reported there before. I guess you can't try the lens on the other body till tomorrow. Have you tried it without the UV filter?

could it be the body and not the lens kpr? Agree with kl as well.. try without the polorizer. Next question.. do you use the polorizer a lot? I've been thinking about using one for birds but always figured you're spending a few seconds every time adjusting it which would make you miss shots. got out yesterday and "think" I caught a black crowned night heron... never seen one before. Will post a pic later but want to get out for a few hours today

It's just a UV filter wolf...more for protection of the lens face than anything. Rather beat up $90 than $1500. Gonna do a couple cotrolled shots tomorrow and will post results. IF...the sun comes out...can ya tell I'm home now?
